Developing Soulful Seasons, Transitions of Change
The title, Soulful Seasons, Transitions of Change was inspired by the concept of four seasons between my final solo show at cre8ery, to my first solo at 210 Gallery.

Retiring from gallery ownership after 23 years was significant. I wasn't sure how the next year would play out due to chronic illnesses. I wanted to make a splash! As my health worsened, plans changed...until November 2025 when I started a miracle medication that improved my health drastically.

When the show was booked in early 2025, I was planning to evolve beyond the stylized abstract landscape towards something less identifiable as a traditional landscape; however, the layered-textured emotional effect I was striving for was needing some extra flavour. The desire to enhance the emotional connection to the work grew.

In November of 2025, an immunologist prescribed a miracle drug called Dupixent which has literally given me the ability to breathe. This biologic drug has taken away constant facial pain, headaches, and debilitating congestion. I have regained the ability to smell, taste, sleep, and even dream. I can drink a glass of water and climb the stairs in our home without being breathless after. I can work on my art for longer periods with more focus and endurance.
As an intuitive artist, my pieces are unplanned. On an emotional level, I allow the spirit of the ink to flow from within, allowing the ink to naturally bleed and wonder. I use tools to scrape and encourage movement, in the moment. Ink layers are added and subtracted as I work.

Because I was unwell, I focused on the positivity of the blue skies, oceans, lakes and streams and the green grass over the dark-grey, cold, miserable winter. As beautiful as fall is, it signals the death of winter to come. Spring is a refreshing rejuvenation into the full life blooms of summer.
Spring and fall are my favourite seasons. I understand the healing power of nature's beauty as an experience from lazy beach summer days to hiking in the mountains, to the changing colours of the fall season. Due to a smoke filled summer in 2025, I was trapped inside. I walked through summer and fall as a theme in my art.

Winter is gently alluded to in the repetition of dots which highlight a journey, similar to the dots on a map. The dots help the eye walk through flow of the pieces, adding an additional story to the layers of ink. The contrast of the dots add depth. I view the dots as stars, allusions of a dream world, and maybe even an early snow. I love the interpretation of the dots. Whatever people perceive them as--works for me!
The exhibit following this, will be more abstract, I can feel a shift coming. Seasons of Change may be here--excited for what will come. The fall of 2026 will be another exhibit--same artist, similar style and same medium, different body of work. For now, let's take some time to enjoy what is, instead of what will be.

Following this exhibition, I'll be at the Winnipeg Fine Art Fair. Both Exhibitions will feature different work - so please visit both! (more tba!)
My official artist statement:
Reaching deep on an emotional level, striving to create art infused with soul and beauty, the works presented in this exhibition resonate beyond the surface idea of abstracted landscapes.
My process has become an essential part of my artistic identity, grounded in the exploration of emotion, connection, and reflection.

Each piece unfolds through the layering of multiple alcohol ink colour blends, manipulated through droplets, brushes, and knives, revealing complexity and harmony. The final layer, featuring carefully and randomly placed lines and dots in acrylic, suggests a journey that is more controlled than the flow of ink in the layers below, while following the path presented. Dots move rhythmically across the surface like steps on a life map, representing the paths we walk, the choices we make, and the passage of time.
The act of applying each dot is deliberate and meditative, a process that bridges the visual and the introspective. Working on these pieces reflects a moment of contemplation, an opportunity to process the truths in the news, in life, and in my health journey. Each piece translates into something tangible, luminous, and deeply human.
The art continues to evolve as life changes. Big shifts that unfolded in 2025 have brought new perspectives, adventures, and moments to process, each finding its way into the work as the work grows and transforms alongside me.
